This course aims to:

Why you should study this course
The course offers you the chance to:
- identify, analyse and solve complex or ambiguous international business problems through active collaboration and the application of suitable methodologies to provide ethically based and culturally embedded solutions to global challenges.
- evidence and focus on understanding environmental forces that affect the dynamic and changing nature of international business trends, global trade, international strategy and organisational management to exhibit global citizenship attributes.

If you choose to start this course in January you will study exactly the same course but over a slightly shorter timescale in Year 1. This is ideal if you missed the September start, want to transfer from a different university or course or just need a bit more time to prepare for life at university.

During your Foundation Year, you will study alongside students who are pursuing related degrees. This offers you the chance to establish connections and form friendships with a diverse group of people who share similar interests and aspirations.
This course has a common first year.
The common first year enables you to work alongside students doing similar courses to you, to widen your knowledge and exposure to other subject areas and professions. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with other students, so you can share your insights and experience which will help you to develop and learn.
If you discover an interest in a specific subject you have studied, upon successful completion of your first year, you could swap degrees with another course in your common years (subject to meeting progression requirements).
The aim of this module is to enable you to engage critically and creatively with entrepreneurship in the context of responsible management practice. Following an introduction to the key concepts and debates of general entrepreneurial principles, you will actively explore social, economic, and environmental challenges.
The aim of this module is to introduce you to the process of entrepreneurial ideation. Entrepreneurial ideation is the creative process of generating, developing, and communicating new ideas.
Through authentic and applied assessment, you will be invited to present your ideas to business and organisational leaders.
This module introduces you to the essential building blocks of business and organizational management through a range of theories, concepts and approaches.
You can expect to explore the organisational structure, organisational design and business operations before learning about contexts which impact organisations, such as national culture, capitalism, demography and climate change.
This module develops your knowledge and understanding of the fundamental concepts in marketing, including digital and social media.
You should develop an understanding of the role of marketing within an organisation, and the influence of factors in the external environment on marketing decisions.
This module introduces the fundamental concepts and principles of data analytics, and how they can be applied to assess and enhance organisational and functional performance and support decision-making.
This module is designed to help you develop an analytical mindset, deepen your understanding, and prepare you to use innovative data analytic tools, techniques, and methods.
This module explores how people interact with each other in the workplace and the impact that leaders and managers have upon that interaction. It examines the role of people management practices and how these affect individual behaviour in the workplace.
In year two, you will continue to develop the skills and knowledge you’ve learnt. We do this by embedding the following four principles into the curriculum and developing your:
- Technical skills – digital fluency, backed with the right academic knowledge
- Study skills – to be an adaptive, independent and proactive learner
- Professional skills – to have the behavior and abilities to succeed in your career
- Global awareness – the beliefs and abilities to be a resilient, confident and motivated global citizen
The aim of this module is for you to work collaboratively with organisations to develop innovative solutions to wicked problems.
The curriculum will be enhanced with guest speaker sessions from entrepreneurs and key organisational leaders (where available). Through an applied critical evaluation of the academic literature on a contemporary challenge, you will provide a detailed and scholarly approach to thinking differently about current issues.
The aim of this module is to provide you with the opportunity to identify current or global challenges in the environment and present ideas to address those issues in a proactive manner.
You can expect to develop an awareness and a critical understanding of key research methodologies within your chosen area of study and design a proposal for researching the relevant contemporary issues.
This module is designed to develop your understanding of the concepts and tools commonly used in financial and management accounting.
The module will introduce you to the financial statements that are regularly produced by business organisations, as well as to the tools that can be used to interpret these and evaluate financial performance.
This module provides you with the opportunity to critically appraise the impact of globalisation on human resource management strategies. The module introduces the key concepts for understanding international human resource management and explores the practice of managing human resources in an international context. Intercultural factors will also be examined and appraised from the viewpoint of values, cultures and societies.
The module will develop your skills in undertaking theoretical and work-based projects, as well as exploring international case studies. It will evaluate different practical and theoretical applications developed throughout the course in order to better understand the interrelated nature of business. You will develop a professional approach to self-development in a broad range of competencies relevant to the needs of global business professionals.
This module aims to provide you with the knowledge and skills required to identify and evaluate key issues affecting world trade and its impact on exporting firms. This module will tackle some of the mechanics of international trade, as well as its economic and legal parameters, alongside the analysis of internationalization processes and models. To this end, this module will enable you to create internationalization plans based on screening and assessing potential markets to help make informed decisions when selecting appropriate entry modes and export operational plans.
The final year aims to prepare you for professional practice or higher education by consolidating your knowledge and skills from years one and two. You could also work on a large final project in an area of your interest, with the support of a mentor.
This module aims to provide you with the opportunity to apply and develop your research skills and to extend your knowledge, understanding and ability to critically analyze a topic in a specialist area of interest. You will receive academic support through a series of group supervisions and will be allocated a project supervisor.
This module enhances and strengthens your knowledge of concepts, theories and frameworks that will aid your understanding of business strategy in an international context. The aim of the module is to equip you with the knowledge, skills and competencies to interpret and develop an international business strategy.
This module will give you the opportunity to study ethical leadership and apply knowledge to cases in cross-cultural settings. The module will use foundational principles derived from leadership theory to critically analyze organisations and how people are managed within them, specifically in international business environments. The module will further demonstrate why an understanding of different management cultures is necessary for operating effectively in organizations and the idea that leadership is a cultural construct, deeply embedded in a culture’s society.
Strategic entrepreneurship is the integration of entrepreneurship and strategic management. Both concepts, in different ways, focus on how organisations initiate or respond to change by exploring opportunities within the environment in which they operate.
In this module, you will explore the strategic roles of creativity, opportunity identification and evaluation, and innovation in the emergence and growth of entrepreneurial organizations.
This module focuses on project management in the business environment, enhancing your understanding and equipping you with both soft and technical skills, designed to help you understand the concept of project management, where projects come from, business case development and the selection process, with application to various contexts, harnessing the skills to lead and work on a variety of projects.
The importance of project management scheduling skills, quality, estimating standards, as well as risks and stakeholders' management is emphasized within this module.
