Coventry University Kazakhstan and the Digital Government Support Center to Collaborate on AI Development
Coventry University Kazakhstan, the first British university in Astana, and the Digital Government Support Center (DGSC) signed a memorandum of understanding during the Astana Open Dialogue 2025 independent analytical platform session to implement international best practices in artificial intelligence.
Under the agreement, Coventry University Kazakhstan will assist the Center in attracting international experts to develop strategies and implement global AI best practices. The parties agreed to exchange analytics on advanced AI developments, provide expert support in designing and implementing AI programs in Kazakhstan, and facilitate expert discussions on current AI development issues. Students will have the opportunity to intern at the Center, and university faculty and DGSC staff will be able to publish joint research.
"Founded in 1843, Coventry University is one of the UK’s most dynamic universities, with strong academic traditions, excellent teaching quality, and leading research, including in machine learning and AI. Establishing cooperation with the Digital Government Support Center demonstrates our commitment to the University’s mission “Creating a Better Future”- including supporting governments in advancing knowledge and competencies. I am confident this will further strengthen collaboration between Kazakhstan and the UK",
said Miras Daulenov, President of Coventry University Kazakhstan.

The university has extensive experience in science and technology collaboration with countries such as Singapore, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan. Notably, in Pakistan, a laboratory for IoT and Human-Robot Interaction has been established in partnership with local universities.
"The Center, acting as a coordination hub for project management, seeks collaboration with leading foreign universities with strong academic reputations. It is particularly significant that Coventry University Kazakhstan will be our partner in promoting AI solutions based on international best practices. Every new digital leader is an investment in the country’s future. Therefore, it is important that young specialists gain access to real-world challenges and cases during their studies. This approach will allow students not only to acquire academic knowledge but also to develop practical competencies demanded by the modern labor market",
said Bakhtiyar Mukhametkaliev, Director of the Digital Government Support Center.
